2025-2026 Season Registration
Deadline for early registration is September 29, 2025. Fees will increase by $100 for all travel teams after the early registration deadline.
USA Hockey Requirement
Each Player must register first with USA Hockey and then return to the registration session to signup for the 2025-2026 Season.
- Step 1: CLICK HERE to go to USA Hockey Registration and register your player(s). Be sure to PRINT and SAVE their confirmation code(s). Remember to register EACH of your players with USA Hockey. Each player must have their own unique USA Hockey confirmation number.
- Step 2: Return to the registration and proceed. Later in this registration session you will need to enter the USA Hockey Confirmation Code that you received in Step 1.

Termite 1: 6/1/19-5/31/20

POSITIONS
During the registration you will be asked what position your player is. This information is used as a preferred position for travel players during the tryout process.
IN-HOUSE PLAYERS - 6u/8u, Termite Mite : PLEASE SELECT "Termite/6u - Mite/8u"
TRAVEL PLAYERS: Please select the preferred position (Forward, Defense, Goalie). Players will be evaluated and placed at the level appropriate regardless of position preference.

Tanner Johnson Memorial Scholarship
The Tanner Johnson Memorial Hockey Scholarship
Tanner Johnson dedicated over 40 years of his life to hockey as a player, coach, and referee, profoundly impacting the Grand Forks community through his unwavering competitive spirit and passion. In honor of Tanner’s legacy and to foster opportunities for young athletes, the Johnson family is proud to present the Tanner Johnson Memorial Hockey Scholarship.
About the Scholarship
Each year, two scholarships will be awarded—one for an athlete in the girls’ program and one in the boys’ program—covering the full cost of season registration (or equivalent) with the Grand Forks Youth Hockey Association. The scholarship will be offered annually, with funding provided as long as resources remain available and the Johnson family is a part of the Grand Forks Youth Hockey community. Scholarships will be awarded to the recipients before the registration deadline.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
The following criteria reflect Tanner’s values: commitment, perseverance, and character—both on and off the ice.
1. Financial Need
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Qualify for the reduced lunch program with Grand Forks Public Schools or neighboring districts.
OR
- Have 2 or more family members participating in Grand Forks Youth Hockey programming.
2. Commitment to Participation
- Applicants must demonstrate a strong desire to participate and a willingness to commit for the full hockey season.
- The athlete must maintain good standing within the Grand Forks Youth Hockey Association and with USA Hockey.
3. Character & Sportsmanship
- Candidates should embody respect, integrity, and leadership, serving as a positive model for their teammates and peers.
- Sportsmanship is valued both on and off the ice. Coaches from prior seasons (if applicable) may be contacted to speak to the applicant’s character.
4. Personal Reflection (optional)
To help us learn more about an applicant’s passion for hockey and their personal journey, you may submit a short video with the athlete answering the following:
- What are the top three things you have learned, or hope to learn, through hockey?
- Describe a moment in your hockey experience so far that made you especially proud. How has it impacted you?
- How would receiving this scholarship help you grow on and off the ice?

Vollunteer Requirements / DIBs
Revenue generated from GFYHA tournaments benefit all members of the Grand Forks Youth Hockey Association equally. For the 2025-2026 season, the emphasis will continue to be placed on the operation of successful GFYHA tournaments in an attempt to generate the funds necessary to run our organization. In recognition of this fact, the volunteer requirements for the 2025-2026 season have been established to reflect this shared benefit and shared responsibility. Volunteers will work in a variety of roles at GFYHA tournaments, including rink managers, box workers, scoreboard operators, announcers, concessions, coaching, Board involvement, special projects, etc.
Termites, Mites, and 6U/8U Girls:
Mandatory Volunteer Requirements (per player) – Grand Forks Classic, Girls Holiday Tournament or Special Events.
Parents of termite players, mite players, and girls 6U/8U players will be required to work volunteer shifts at GFYHA events throughout the year. Each player will be required to obtain 6 volunteer hours throughout the season. This is equivalent to 3 box shifts at our tournaments or 6 hours of special event help. E-mails regarding sign up for the hours will be sent out prior to tournaments or events. Those families that do not work the required number of shifts at either of the events required above, will be assessed a volunteer fee of $50 per uncompleted / missed shift (based on required number of shifts) which must be paid prior to registration time for the 2026-2027 season.
Girls 10U, 12U, and 15U, Squirt, Peewee, Bantam:
Mandatory Volunteer Requirements (per player):
Families of travel players will be required to work volunteer shifts at our events throughout the year. Each family will be required to complete 14 volunteer hours. This is equivalent to 7 box shifts at our tournaments or 14 hours of special event help. If Grand Forks Youth Hockey is assigned to host the State Tournament each family will again be required to volunteer for this tournament. Skaters will be assessed a volunteer fee of $50 per uncompleted / missed shift (based on required number of shifts) which must be paid prior to registration for the 2026-2027 season.
BUYOUT OPTION
Families of 6u/8u, Termite and Mite players may buy out of the volunteer responsibilities for $250 per player.
Families of 10u, 12u, 15u, Squirt, Peewee, Bantam players may buy out of the volunteer responsibilities for $500 per player.
Volunteer Notes:
1) We will use the Volunteer/DIBS program on the GFYHA website to monitor and manage the volunteer shift requirements for all tournaments and special events. The sign-ups won’t be posted until the tournament schedules are finalized and all game times confirmed. An e-mail will be sent out to team managers to notify teams that the DIBS program is open. Please be sure to know your account information in order to log-in to access the DIBS session.
2) People can certainly work more shifts than they need to if they want to do that.
3) GFYHA coaches, team managers, active Board members are not required to meet the volunteer requirements at GFYHA tournaments. Mites, Termites and 8U will have coaching exemptions, but no team managers are provided at these levels.
4) DIBs/Volunteer hours be completed by individuals over 18 years of age. If your player or volunteer is not 18 years of age they must be cleared by GFYHA staff to complete the duties registered for.
Raffle / Fee Reduction Opportunity
The raffle program offers members the opportunity to sell one book of raffle tickets to reduce their registration costs. Families who participate in the raffle will be required to sell 10 raffle tickets ($20/each), this will reduce your registration fee by $200.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
- PAY ONLINE IN FULL: Submit total fees online today upon conclusion of this registration session via Visa, MasterCard, Discover or checking account. Payment by via electronic check will reduce your fees.
- PAYMENT PLAN: Fees are divided into three (3) installments with the first installment of $325 to be collected online today upon conclusion of this registration session via Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or checking account. Payment plans are executed monthly with the first payment being charged on the start date and each subsequent payment being charged in November and December on the same day of the month as the first.
- Late fees are added to an installment payment amount if the payment is charged after your grace period. For example, if your installment payment amount is $150 and your late fee is $25 after 30 days, the card will be charged $175 on the 31st day after the installment payment was originally scheduled.
- PLAYERS WHO REGISTER FOR GFYHA AND LATER OPT TO PLAY ON A VARSITY HIGHSCHOOL ROSTER WILL BE CHARGED THE EQUIVALENT OF THE FIRST INSTALLMENT PAYMENT. THIS POLICY APPLIES TO PLAYERS WHO ARE LISTED ON VARSITY ROSTERS ONLY - PLAYERS WHO REGISTER AND LATER OPT NOT TO PARTICIPATE FOR OTHER REASONS SHOULD NOT EXPECT A REFUND.
If you are seeking a refund for any reason, please contact the executive director. Processing fees are not refundable under any circumstance.
2025-2026 Season
The registration process will allow you to sign consents, complete player information, family contact information and submit payment. To complete registration through the site, please have a credit/debit card or banking information available. Paying by electronic check will reduce the processing fees assessed.
Membership is subject to review and approval by the GFYHA Board of Directors.
