Volunteer Job Instructions
Rink Manager
Shift Details
- Rink Manager shifts will range from 4 to 7 hours of DIBS.
Primary Responsibilities
- Pre-Game Check-In:
- Make sure that refs are present at least 15 minutes before the start time of the game.
- Check in with Box Workers 15 minutes before games begin.
- Be prepared to fill in if a Box Worker does not show up.
- Post-Game Duties:
- At the end of each game, check in with box workers to make sure that game sheets were properly filled out and able to be uploaded (no errors). Contact tournament staff if any issues arise.
- Keep tournament posters current with scores.
- Concessions Oversight:
- Periodically check in with concession stand workers.
- General Support:
- Assist fans and coaches with questions.
- Direct any inquiries to tournament staff when appropriate.
- Team Check-In:
- Check in teams as they arrive.
- Distribute team tournament boxes.
- Communication:
- Rink Managers must check in with tournament staff at the start of their shift.
- Maintain direct communication with the Tournament Director throughout the shift.
- Make tournament staff aware of any unwanted spectator behavior.
- Keep a list of any volunteer workers that do not show up for their shifts.
Box Worker
Shift Details
- Box Worker Shifts cover 2+ hours of DIBS
- 1 game
- Box workers who are unfamiliar with the GameSheet app are asked watch the GameSheet instruction videos prior to your shift. GameSheet instruction videos can be found under the parent resources tab.

Primary Responsibilities
- Pre-Game Check-In
- Confirm rosters with both team's coaches through Game Sheets
- Confirm starting goalies with both team's coaches through Game Sheets
- Have both team's coaches sign off on rosters (this step if very important. Your game can not be uploaded without coach signatures for both teams)
- Game Duties
- Keep track of game stats, penalties, and game score on both Game Sheets and score board
- There will be one Box Worker for Game Sheets and one Box Worker for the score board.
- Open and close the penalty box doors as player come on and off on penalties
- Use the Game Sheets announcing function to announce goals and penalties
- Required for State Tournaments and requested for B-Dubs Shootouts
- End of Game Duties
- Have both team's coaches sign off on the Game Sheet
- Have both referees sign off on the Game Sheet
- Check and correct any errors on Game Sheet
- Upload the game through Game Sheet
- The game WILL NOT upload without signatures from both coaches and referees
- Hand out Banners, Hats, or Trophies
- Only for Championship, 3rd place, and State Tournament games
- Make sure the iPad is plugged in and charging
- If you worked the last game of the day
Concessions Worker
Shift Details
- Concessions shifts will each cover 2+ hours
- Dependent of length of shift
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist concessions staff
- Work till
- Food service
- Restock food and beverages
- Help keep the concessions area clean during shift
- Help clean up at the end of the day
Gate Worker
Shift Details
- Each gate worker shift will cover 2+ hours of DIBS
- Dependent of shift length
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor that all spectators have paid the entry fee
- Check for wrist bands or stamps
- Collect appropriate amounts based on tournament prices for entry
- Communicate with tournament director on collecting cash box funds
*Gate worker shifts will only be available for state tournament games.
